Teaching and Training - Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service

The teaching activity of the Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service of the Hospital Clínic is a key aspect of its mission. On the one hand, undergraduate teaching is carried out at the University of Barcelona, in the Faculties of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering. On the other hand, 15 MIR residents carry out their five-year specialized training in the Service and a significant part of their daily activity revolves around their training. The Service also offers training stays and international Fellowship programs that allow foreign specialists to complete their training in the Service.

Scientific sessions of clinical cases (daily), of teaching (1-2 per week) and on research (monthly) are held on a regular basis.

It is also considered essential that continuous training of the specialists of the TOC Service be carried out through attendance and active participation in courses and conferences of the specialty, both national and international. Important also is the creation of training stays in foreign centers of recognized prestige. In this sense, the participation of TOC specialists in international teaching in the field of hip and knee prosthetic surgery stands out, as does the yearly organization of the Barcelona Knee Meeting and the Barcelona Hip Meeting, international courses for which the world's best specialists in these fields meet every year in Barcelona.
