Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service
The Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service is part of the Institute of Medical and Surgical Specialties (ICEMEQ) of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. The Service treats abnormalities of the musculoskeletal system that are of congenital, tumor or degenerative origin.
The Service handles 24,000 visits annually along with 3,200 discharges, including 1,500 fractures, more than 500 knee arthroplasties and 400 hip arthroplasties.

The Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service is made up of a team of 38 specialists and 15 resident internal medicine doctors dedicated to the surgery of the musculoskeletal system. They cover all the surgical pathology of the specialty, making the Service the definitive reference center for complex pathology, especially polytrauma, prosthetics and the septic pathology of the musculoskeletal system.
