Applying either hot or cold treatment to an injury can help by reducing pain and promoting better recovery. However, it has to be applied properly, since the wrong treatment can be counterproductive.
"To answer this question, the first thing to consider is the type of injury and its severity," explains Pere Palmada. Whether to apply hot or cold treatment depends on the type of injury, its severity and the time elapsed since it happened. As well as these therapies, exercise, painkillers or anti-inflammatories can be taken. The latter options, however, should be recommended by a professional, depending on the features of the injury.
