The Neonatology Service is part of the Institute Clínic of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Neonatology (ICGON) and participates in a strategic collaborative project with the Neonatology Service of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona, under the umbrella of BCNatal.
The Service is dedicated to the diagnosis, follow-up and treatment of neonates from the very low-risk healthy care for the baby (neonatal nest) to the extremely premature newborn (neonatal ICU level IIIB).
The Neonatology Service works to be recognized by society and the medical, academic, and scientific community as a center of excellence in neonatology. It offers care-based treatment based on the best available healthcare information and focuses on the needs of the parent-infant binomial.
The Neonatology Service of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona is located at the headquarters of La Maternitat and occupies the east wing of the second floor. It has 27 hospital beds: seven intensive care, six semi-intensive and 13 intermediate.
In terms of technological complexity, the level of care in neonatal care corresponds to IIIB (more than 1,500 births per year).
The Neonatology Service of the Clinical Institute of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Neonatology (ICGON) of the Hospital Clínic – Maternitat de Barcelona has obtained ISO accreditation by AENOR in 2 reference standards: Neonatology Service (standard UNE-EN ISO 9001: 2015) and Risk management and patient safety (standard UNE 179003: 2013).
