Evolution of Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a chronic condition with the following phases as it develops:

Active disease progression. The appearance or extension of patches on the skin or hair as melanocytes (the cells responsible for pigmentation or colour) are destroyed.

Stabilisation. Depigmented areas are unchanged in size or number.

Repigmentation. Following treatment, depigmented areas recover part of their colour.
