Symptoms of Facial Paralysis

Patients with facial paralysis have the following symptoms:

Half face paralyzed by facial paralysis

Muscle weakness in the affected half of the face.

Eye with lightning and fire that represent a burning sensation.

Burning sensation in the eyes due to a lack of blinking.

Person with a tear, crying

Burning sensation in the eyes due to a lack of blinking.

Persona exhalando por la nariz tachado

Inability to suck or blow. 

Person with facial paralysis

A sloping mouth makes it impossible to retain liquids on the lower side. 

Earache

Pain behind the ear.

Person sticking out his tongue crossed out

Change in sensitivity at the tip of the tongue.

Sabor metálico

Metallic taste.  

Signs of facial paralysis

Ausencia de arrugas

Absence of wrinkles and furrows on the paralysed side.  

Frente sin arrugas

No wrinkles on the forehead, due to not being able to frown.  

Persona que no puede cerrar ojo

Inability to close the eyelid on the paralysed side (lagophthalmos). 

Ojo mirando hacia arriba

Inability to close the eyes, with the eye on the paralysed side pointing upwards.
