Facial Paralysis Diagnosis

Reading time: 1 min

The diagnosis of facial paralysis is almost always clinical. The Facial Grading System (FGS) evaluation scale is used for rehabilitation, as it assesses movement, symmetry and synkinesis (involuntary movements).

A neurophysiological study is sometimes added to the clinical study and consists of the following tests:

Electroneurografía

Evoked electromyography or electroneurography to find out the degree of nerve injury and assess prognosis of the facial paralysis.
