Bronchiectasis evolution

Reading time: 1 min

The evolution of bronchiectasis is very variable and it’s determined mainly by the number of respiratory infections suffered in a year. The prognosis worsens if the number of infections are three or more per year.

Although the disease impacts highly on the quality of life of patients, only a small number (less than 5%) progress to cause chronic respiratory failure (sustained lack of oxygen).
