Research - Neurology Service

The preeminent objectives of the Neurology Service are to develop a high level of research and innovation in Clinical and Translational Neurology and to promote research training during the residency and post-residency stages in Neurology.

The research of the members of the Neurology Service is carried out mainly through the August Pi Sunyer Institute for Biomedical Research (IDIBAPS), within the area of Clinical and Experimental Neurosciences. The researchers are part of the following groups:

The Neurology Service is also in charge of the Clinical Coordination of the Neurological Tissue Bank (BTN) of the Biobank of Barcelona Hospital.

The BTN is a structure with more than 25 years of history created with the aim of providing high quality brain tissue to promote research in neurological diseases, especially neurodegenerative diseases. Over the years, the BTN has received samples from more than 2,000 donors from all over Catalonia, which have been used to carry out multiple research studies led by both internal and external researchers.
