Nephrology and Renal Transplant Service

The Nephrology and Renal Transplant Service is part of the Clinical Institute of Nephrology and Urology of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. The Service is dedicated to the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of the most important kidney diseases, as well as to the treatment of renal function through dialysis and kidney transplantation. It offers health care focused on people with kidney diseases and aspires to the highest levels of quality and efficiency.

Hospital Clínic was the center where the first kidney transplant was performed in Spain in 1965, and it has continued to this day as a leader in innovation. It was also one of the centers where the first dialyses were performed in Spain.

The dialysis section, which includes hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, is certified by the Quality Management System, which has followed the ISO 9001 standard since 2013 ( hemodialysis) and 2017(peritoneal dialysis).
