The #100tífiques project is an initiative of the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació (FCRI) and the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), with the collaboration of the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya to make visible and highlight the relevance and strategic role of women in science and technology.
The initiative, now in its sixth edition, is part of the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which takes place on February 11. This year, however, this date falls on a Sunday. Thus, the meetings between the #100tifiques and the 6th grade and 1st year high school students of the participating schools took place on Wednesday, February 7.
Prior to this evet, on February 1, a meeting of the 2024 #100tifiques was held. The event, in which authorities such as the Minister of Education and the general secretary of the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia participated, was a tribute to the women researchers, as well as a space for meeting and exchange. The attendees had the opportunity to listen to the conference given by Alba Cervera Lierta, senior researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, about the past, present and future of quantum technologies. In addition, Regina Llopis Rivas, president of AIA and co-founder of WA4STEAM, Mireia Colina Fatjó, commercial vice president at Leaf Space and founder of the local chapter of Women in Aerospace Barcelona, Mireia Hernan Gago, president of the UPC Alumni Polytechnic Women's Club and Nuria Mir Font, executive director at GFT Technologies, hosted a round table where the importance of creating community was discussed.
