The IDIBAPS Management Committee has approved the replacement of the head of the Respiratory biophysics and bioengineering research group. Isaac Almendros is the new head of the group, replacing Ramon Farré, who has chosen to step down.
Almendros graduated in Biology from the University of Seville and received his doctorate from the University of Barcelona in 2008. He completed postdoctoral research at Hospital Clínic Barcelona and the University of Chicago. He has been a professor in the Department of Biomedicine at the University of Barcelona’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences since 2015. He has published over 150 articles related to the biomechanical aspects and the effects of hypoxia in various respiratory pathologies.
