Organization - The Clínic's Institute of Medicine and Dermatology

The health care of the Clinical Institute of Medicine and Dermatology covers the entire patient care process, from prevention, hospitalization, intensive care and day hospital, to outpatient care.

For this reason, it has facilities segmented according to their link in the healthcare process and the responsibility of each service and unit that make up the ICMiD:

The Institute also leads the Geriatrics Section and the Intensive Care Unit.

The ICMID treats hospitalized patients for medical reasons (93%), mostly brought in from the Emergency Department (85%). It has five hospital wards, with a total of 108 beds, and an Intensive Care Unit (Intensive Care Area) with 13 beds. There are two day hospitals (Infectious Diseases and one in common for Dermatology, Internal Medicine and Autoimmune Diseases), that are organized to provide care focused on specific healthcare processes. In addition to attending to their own devices, these professionals support other Hospital Clínic Services.

In relation to outpatient care, a common outpatient area is shared by the different specialties (30 offices) where patients are monitored.

In addition, the Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology Service integrates the Adult Vaccination Centre and the Tumour Screening Programmes. For its part, the International Health Service also offers the Traveller's Assistance Service. In recent years, it has incorporated the use of telemedicine and data management for the care process.
