Tinnitus Treatment

Reading time: 1 min

There is currently no curative treatment for tinnitus; patient therapy is based on explaining the symptoms and tolerance strategies to cope with them.

Ear with auditive prostheses

Auditive prostheses. They are especially useful for people with hearing loss and can improve tinnitus in 70% of cases; especially if combined with auditory therapy to distract attention from the sounds heard.

Doctor talking to patient or interview with transplant group

Cognitive-behavioural therapy. It provides a series of tools to cope with tinnitus symptoms and make them less annoying. For example, relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing or meditation, can help reduce anxiety; while selective care exercises show how to focus attention on other, non-tinnitus sounds.
