Symptoms of Rabies

Reading time: 1 min

The disease may not present any symptoms for a long period of time. The first symptoms usually appear a few weeks or months after being bitten.

Initially, the patients present:

Arm with a bite mark

Pain at the wound site, which may be accompanied by a feeling of tingling, itching or burning.

Thermometer with a danger signal indicating fever

A fever may develop.

Lying down with convulsions

When the virus reaches the nervous system, it causes inflammation of the brain and neurological alterations appear: anxiety, progressive paralysis of the muscles, muscle spasms, convulsions and coma.

Once symptoms appear, the disease is almost never curable and is fatal, which means it is very important to follow preventative measures before and after being exposed to situations of risk.
