Prevenfion of Rabies

Reading time: 1 min

Rabies can be prevented by routine vaccination of animals.

In Spain, there are rabies vaccinations that may be recommended for high-risk travellers. For this reason, you are advised to consult the Travel Health Unit to evaluate the risk and, if necessary, to administer the vaccines before travelling to a risk zone.

The general prevention measures for all travellers are:

Dog crossed out

Do not touch, feed or play with wild animals or pets when travelling, especially mammals (dogs, cats, monkeys, bats, etc.).

Supervise children to prevent them from going near or playing with animals.

Two dogs crossed out

If you are travelling with a pet, do not allow it to play with local animals.
