Portal Vein Thrombosis Research at the Clínic

The Hepatic Haemodynamics Section of the hospital Clínic Barcelona is a reference both nationally and internationally for research into portal vein hypertension and hepatic vascular diseases. It is part of VALDIG (Vascular Liver Disease Group) and REHEVASC (Spanish Network of Hepatic Vascular Diseases): European and Spanish networks for research on hepatic vascular diseases.

Currently, the research lines for portal vein thrombosis are focused on the:

  • Study of risk factors for portal thrombosis and/or rethrombosis.
  • Evaluation of factors associated with response to treatment.
  • Evaluation of new interventional radiology techniques for the endovascular treatment of complex portal vein thrombosis.
