Research into OCD

Reading time: 1 min

At the Hospital Clinic, we are very interested in research on OCD and are studying various aspects related to it to better understand and treat it. The studies often involve having tests (for example, neuroimaging tests or genetic analyses) or trying out new treatments. We are currently interested in finding out if certain individual factors (for example, genetic or brain function) can be used to determine whether a person with OCD will be better with one treatment or another (for example, pharmacological or psychological). We are also conducting research to see if intensive psychological treatments over a few weeks help people with OCD. Another line of research is to find out if psychological treatments that work for OCD can be given online, with support from a professional. Finally, another area of interest is studying how people with OCD form habits and what brain mechanisms are involved in this process.

If you are interested in finding out more about OCD research at the Hospital Clínic, you can contact Dr Miquel Ángel Fullana (mafullana@clinic.cat) if you are an adult or Dr Luisa Lázaro (llazaro@clinic.cat) if you have a child with this disorder.
