The illness lasts 2 to 4 weeks.

The typical incubation period is 1 to 2 weeks, but can range from 5 days to 3 weeks.

A skin rash appears 1-3 days after the onset of fever, usually on the face, and spreads to the rest of the body. The skin lesions evolve from macules to papules, vesicles, pustules and finally scabs that end up falling off.
