Malaria symptoms

The incubation period may vary from 7 days to more than a month.   

Malaria is characterised by a fever and symptoms similar to those of flu:  

Person with sweats, tremors and paleness

Fever, chills and/or dysthermic feeling. 

Person with hand on temple with headache

Headache.  

Pale person with heavy sweating

Sweating.   

Low back pain

Muscular pain.   

Woman with generalised pain

A general feeling of being unwell.   

If a diagnosis and correct treatment cannot be obtained within the first 24 hours, the disease may progress with general deterioration and the appearance of signs of serious illness such as confusion, convulsions, difficulty breathing, kidney failure, haemorrhaging, coma and even death.
