Treatment of Malaria

The treatment of choice is based on a combination of artemisinin-based drugs. There are both intravenous and oral drugs available. The most suitable treatment will be chosen based on the species and severity of the malaria.  

For cases of serious malaria, support treatment and monitoring in an intensive care unit may also be necessary.
