Diagnosis of Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy

Fuchs’ dystrophy is diagnosed using a slit lamp examination.

Additional tests are:

  • Pachymetry. This is a test to measure the thickness of the cornea.
  • Specular microscopic examination This allows the ophthalmologist to see the thin layer of cells that line the back of the cornea.
  • Visual acuity assessment.
