Diagnosis of Abdominal Separation or Diastasis Recti

Abdominal diastasis can be identified easily by physical examination. Imaging studies can be used to evaluate if there is a simultaneous hernia and can measure the separation of the rectus muscles. Abdominal ultrasound provides sufficient information with a CT scan being required prior to surgery in just a few cases.
