Teaching and Training - Thoracic Surgery Service
In the area of Teaching, the team of thoracic surgeons gives classes in the Degree of Medicine, in university Master's and in the training of residents of the specialty. The team pays special attention to the continuing education of Service members to keep them abreast of constant surgical advances. It also participates and organizes national and international congresses.
Specifically, the Thoracic Surgery Service leads the following teaching and training actions:
Degrees
The service carries out the theoretical and practical teaching of the subject of the Respiratory System to the 4th Year Students of the Medicine Degree at the University of Barcelona.
Formación de Posgrado
El Servicio interviene en la docencia dentro del Máster Oficial de Competencias Médicas Avanzadas con la especialidad de Cirugía Torácica Avanzada. Se trata de un Máster presencial y multidisciplinario, donde se actualiza la especialidad de cirugía torácica desde un punto de vista práctico y actualizando la patología más frecuente.
Ofrece el Curso Superior Universitario Principios de la Cirugía Robótica Torácica como formación de posgrado específica en cirugía robótica.
Aun así, ofrece fellowships y observerships específicos durante todo el año.
It lasts for five years, with external rotations included.
Master's
The Service has organized the specialty of Diagnosis and Treatment of Lung Cancer, within the Master of Advanced Medical Skills of the University of Barcelona since 2012, with one or two students each year. It is a face-to-face and multidisciplinary Master's degree, rotating through the different specialties involved in lung cancer, such as Medical Oncology, Radiotherapy Oncology, Pneumology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiodiagnostics, Pathological Anatomy and Thoracic Surgery.
Continuing education
All members of the Service, both medical and nursing staff, carry out continuous training with assistance and presentation of communications at various national and international conferences.

- Joint meeting on Thoracic Surgery since 2009.
- Monthly session of the Thoracic Tumors Unit.
- Biweekly bibliographic service session.
- Session of the monthly research service.
- Annual session of the Mortality Service.
- Weekly clinical session of the Respiratory Institute.
- Weekly scientific session of the Respiratory Institute.
