Teaching and Training - International Health Service

The teaching on offer from the International Health Service is based on the healthcare aspects of the imported tropical disease, taking into account, as a priority objective, the clinical experience in the tasks of the specialty and in the basic training in research. The resident acquires experience in methodology and practice in clinical and experimental research.

In line with the resident training programs developed at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, the International Health Service has a special interest in having residents acquire the skills needed to convey the respect they must have when dealing with patients and their commitment to ethical and deontological principles.

The International Health Service has the capacity to accommodate two residents per month, between January-July and November-December, and two residents per month, during the months of August-October, as it coincides with the period of high season in the post-trip unit. The fulfillment of the training objectives is based on the action of support and follow-up by the assistants and researchers of the service, together with the coordination of teaching, the head of service and the Teaching Commission of the Hospital Clínic.

The International Health Service channels most of the teaching given through the Barcelona Institute of Global Health (ISGlobal). In addition, it also collaborates with other centers and institutions:

  • Chagas Disease Workshop (ISGlobal)
  • Course on imported diseases (ISGlobal)
  • Master in Global Health (ISGlobal-University of Barcelona)
  • Master in Clinical Research: International Health (ISGlobal)
  • Master in Tropical Neurology (International University of Catalonia)
  • Master's degree in clinical parasitology (University of Barcelona)
