The Mediterranean diet is associated with a significant reduction in stress and anxiety during pregnancy

Led by researchers from Clínic-IDIBAPS with support from Fundació "la Caixa", the study shows that pregnant women who follow a Mediterranean diet have between 25% and 28% less anxiety, better wellbeing and higher-quality sleep.

Previous studies of non-pregnant women had linked the Mediterranean diet to improved wellbeing. This is the first clinical trial with pregnant women evaluating and demonstrating it.
