Accreditation indicates that an institution is ‘where research of excellence in cancer is conducted with excellent institutional management as a key support for research’. In addition to a seal of quality, accreditation provides baseline funding from the Scientific Foundation and access to exclusive calls for centres with this distinction.
IDIBAPS participated in the first Foundation Centres Programme in 2019. It recently renewed its participation in the accreditation system for another four years, until the end of 2028. It is one of the 13 centres currently accredited by the Scientific Foundation in Spain.
The Scientific Foundation’s support for IDIBAPS’ research continues to be essential. In 2024 alone, the Scientific Foundation granted over €10 million to IDIBAPS-led research projects to fight against cancer. Both institutions work with other initiatives such as visits to IDIBAPS facilities for workers, volunteers and patients of the Association.
