The IDIBAPS-Hospital Clínic biobank has been ISO 9001 certified since 2013. Annually, an external entity performs a follow-up audit to ensure compliance with quality standards, as well as those of the biobank itself, and every three years the certification is renewed. This year, the result of the renewal audit was satisfactory.
Renewing the certification implies, in general terms, the maintenance and continuous improvement of all the processes established in the biobank through the analysis of the context, the determination of objectives, the establishment of actions to face risks and opportunities and the planning of changes. The scope covers the management of biological samples (donation, reception, processing, storage and transfer) and the technical services platform (processing and custody of human biological samples).
The external audit was conducted on April 6 and 7.
About the biobank
The IDIBAPS-Hospital Clínic biobank is a centralized platform that coordinates the collection, processing, storage and release of human biological samples to promote quality biomedical research. The catalog of available samples, from a wide range of pathologies, is structured into three major banks: Neurological Tissue Bank (BTN), Tumor Bank and Anatomic Pathology Collection (BTT) and Biological Fluid Bank (BFB). In addition, taking advantage of the high technical specialization in sample processing, the biobank offers researchers a wide range of technical services to process human and animal samples provided by the different research groups.
