Frequently Asked Questions
- What is GenAI HealthHack?
-
GenAI HealthHack is a hackathon dedicated to using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) to address real-world problems in the healthcare field.
The first day includes talks and panel discussions with experts open to all healthcare professionals interested in the applications of generative AI in this sector. At 4p.m. teams will receive the challenges and the hackathon will be launched.
During the second and third days, registered participants will form teams to work on specific challenges posed in the hackathon.
- When and where is GenAI HealthHack held?
-
The event will take place from November 14 to 16 at Sea Towers in Avda. Icaria 211 Barcelona 08005
- November 14: Registration starts at 8:30 am. The day of conferences will begin at 9:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm, then the hackathon launces at 4:00 pm.

- What can I build?
-
During the hackathon, you can develop AI-based solutions to address challenges such as patient education, structuring clinical reports, and health data analysis. You will be able to work with the AWS Bedrock platform to develop solutions.
- What is recommended if I want to participate as an engineer?
-
During the hackathon, you will have access to the AWS platform and the foundational models included in the Bedrock service within AWS. For security reasons, it will be necessary to work with the Jupyter Notebooks application included within the Sagemaker service. There will also be datasets for each challenge consisting of anonymized real-text documents and structured data. It is recommended to know Python, and SQL, and understand the basic operation of Large Language Models. Familiarity with the AWS platform is also recommended.
- What support and material will I have as an engineer during the hackathon?
-
Engineers will have notebooks where there will be basic code examples for using AWS services through SDKs and APIs such as S3, Bedrock, and Knowledge bases. There will be technical support from the platform for advice and questions.
- What is recommended if I want to participate as an advisor in ethics and legal aspects?
-
Having a basic understanding of the new EU AI Act is one of the challenges requirements will be for the solution to comply with the new law. Have a basic understanding of potential biases to guide engineers in exploring them in the solution being developed.
- What should I bring?
-
- Bring your laptop, chargers, and any other tools you need to work with AI models.
- Non-engineer participants will also need their computer to work on the documentation that will need to be attached to present the solution, such as bias exploration and regulatory compliance.
- It's also a good idea to come with proposals or ideas on how to improve the healthcare challenges and be prepared to discuss aspects such as ethics and policies in the use of AI.
- What are the evaluation criteria?
-
Projects will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- Difficulty
- Bias prevention and ethical considerations
- Compliance guidelines
Solutions must comply with legal regulations and address potential biases that may arise.
- Are meals included?
-
