Zika diagnosis

Zika is diagnosed by clinical suspicion (compatible clinical picture and epidemiological history of exposure to the infection) and by tests to confirm the disease:   

Blood collection tube

Blood analysis. To detect the virus’ genetic material using the test known as RT-PCR within the first week. Also serological tests, which consist of detecting the body’s defences against the virus.  

Urine sample cup and urine test strip

Urine tests (RT-PCR within the first two weeks).
