Treatment of Umbilical Hernia

Umbilical hernias in adults are treated surgically. There is no single technique; it depends on the size of the hernia and the patient’s clinical characteristics.

The use of mesh (tension-free techniques) provides the best results, as the rate of recurrence is lower when compared to simple suturing of the hole (tension techniques).
