Treatment of Schizophrenia at the Clínic

Every year on an outpatient basis, the Schizophrenia Unit cares for more than 1,200 patients, of whom 220 are first visits. There are also 120-130 annual hospital discharges.

From a hospital care point of view, it has been a pioneer in biological treatments, with the first psychotic episodes of schizophrenia, refractoriness algorithms and treatment with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), medical and obstetric comorbidity (pregnant patients affected by psychosis) and for psychoses beginning in childhood and adolescence. The Unit is also an expert in neurocognitive rehabilitation interventions.
