Research in Laryngeal Cancer at Clínic

Professionals dedicated to the treatment of laryngeal cancer are part of the Head Neck Clinic (AGAUR, Generalitat of Catalonia) research group and the Molecular and Translational Oncology Group of the Agustí Pi Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS).

The main projects and lines of research are:

  • Laryngeal assessment with endoscopic techniques, including light filters, to allow early diagnosis of the disease.
  • Assessment of function and quality of life in patients with laryngeal cancer.
  • Analysis of tumour markers in liquid biopsy taken from blood and saliva samples in patients with head and neck carcinoma.
  • Study of tumour microbiota and metabolic markers as a prognostic factor for response to surgical treatment or chemoradiotherapy protocols.
  • Development of reconstructive surgery for the treatment of locally advanced tumours.
  • Phase III clinical trials with chemotherapy and immunotherapy for patients with recurrent/metastatic disease.
