Diagnostic tests for Hip Dysplasia

Hip dysplasia is diagnosed by:

A physical examination. The mobility and stability of the hip is assessed.

X-ray. This test is essential to see if the joint cavity (acetabulum) covers the femoral head entirely and assess positioning.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI machine

MRI. This can show damage to the labrum or cartilage.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI machine

Computed tomography (CT).  This test provides a detailed view of the bone structure and is required before surgery.
