In cases where it is difficult to avoid the agent causing the contact dermatitis, topical treatments with corticosteroids or topical calcineurin inhibitors are used during flare-ups or in chronic pictures, or oral immunosuppressants in some cases.
Prácticamente todos los casos de dermatitis de contacto correctamente diagnosticados y tratados se resuelven en cuestión de semanas cuando se evita el contacto con el agente causante. Cuando esto no se cumple se deben buscar otros factores agravantes o enfermedades con presentación clínica parecida.
