Central European encephalitis symptoms

Reading time: 1 min

Initial symptoms tend to appear 8 days after contagion, and are similar to flu. This phase may last 2-10 days.

Subsequently, many patients begin a recovery phase, but in 20-30% of children and up to half of adults, there may be a second phase of the disease, with high fever and neurological changes, in the form of aseptic meningitis, meningoencephalitis or myelitis affecting the cranial nerves.
