Preventing Central European encephalitis

To prevent Central European encephalitis, it is important to:  

Long-sleeved clothes and closed shoes or travel clothes

Use suitable clothing (long trousers, closed shoes, socks).  

Insecticide

Apply insect repellent containing N, N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET) to prevent tick bites, especially when staying in rural and wooded areas in Central Europe.    

Brick of milk and three drops of different strengths

Avoid consuming untreated milk to minimise the risk of contagion. 

Correct vaccination

There are two effective vaccines available in Europe to prevent Central European encephalitis, which can be administered for high-risk trips or stays.
