It is important to treat the Internet Addiction appropriately, since this problem increases the risk of developing into:

Beer mug and cannabis

Addiction to alcohol and other drugs. People with an addiction to the Internet have a three-times higher risk than the general population of having addictions to other substances. 

Person with insomnia

Difficulty in maintaining healthy life habits, insomnia, reversal of sleep-wake cycles, sedentarism, and obesity.

A person with wounds in the face and a razor blade

Self-injury and suicidal behaviour. These behaviours may be enhanced by the information available on the Internet on how to self-injure.

Increasing depression

Psychiatric disorders, like depression, anxiety, or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Studies show that up to one in four people with an Internet addiction have some type of psychiatric disorder.
