Pathological Anatomy Service
The Pathological Anatomy Service is one of the services that make up the Biomedical Diagnostic Center of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. The Service integrates more than 90 professionals who work to provide effective information for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of diseases. The Service uses tissue, fluid and cytology biopsies for this diagnosis and incorporates the latest technological advances.
The Pathological Anatomy Service is committed to society and to a better understanding of diseases, and leads the incorporation of state-of-the-art techniques in personalized and accurate diagnoses that patients demand. It is also responsible for ensuring an accurate and quality diagnosis for all people in its area of influence, as well as establishing strategic alliances with other services that allow it to generate enormous diagnostic potential in the service of society.
The Service is structured in five sections:
- Thoracic, Digestive and Metabolic Pathology
- Medical-Surgical Pathology, Dermatopathology and Neuropathology
- Genitourinary and Perinatal pathology
- Hematopathology
- Pediatric Pathology
The Service is also organized into 10 complementary technology platforms and two specific support areas, including both the most automated and modern Pre-Analytics in Europe and the technological support of the Molecular Biology Core of the Biomedical Diagnostic Center. These ensure the highest level of quality and diagnostic integration.
