The main objective of the research of the CORE Operating Area of Molecular Biology is to provide knowledge in the areas of diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. Due to the translational (complementary) nature of the laboratory and the faculties that make it up, the lines of research are diverse, although they all share a marked innovative character oriented towards translational medicine, which can be defined as "an interdisciplinary branch of the biomedical field supported by three main pillars: benchside, bedside, and community".
The research is being carried out at the August Pi i Sunyer Institute for Biomedical Research (IDIBAPS) and some of the researchers belong to the Carlos Biomedical Research Center Network of the Carlos III Institute of Health.
The various areas of IDIBAPS where research is conducted are:
In relation to the Networked Biomedical Research Center of the Carlos III Institute of Health, the staff of the CORE Molecular Biology Operating Area is part of CIBERehd (Liver and Digestive Diseases) and CIBERER (Rare Diseases).
