The Health Reputation Monitor (MRS) ranking has just been presented and the Hospital Clínic Barcelona has been ranked as the second best public hospital in Spain. Like last year, it is preceded by the Hospital Universitario La Paz and followed by the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón, which is in third place. The Hospital Clínic also stands out with five services ranked in first place: Digestive System, General and Digestive Surgery, Haematology, Nephrology and Radiodiagnosis. It has seven services ranked in second place: Dermatology, Endocrinology and Nutrition, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Rheumatology, Urology, and Clinical Analysis. Finally there are three services in third place: Cardiology, Otorhinolaryngology, and Psychiatry.
In terms of Catalonia, the Hospital Clínic has seventeen services ranked in first place. They are: Allergology, Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation, Cardiology, Dermatology, Digestive System, Endocrinology and Nutrition, General and Digestive Surgery, Haematology, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, Rheumatology, and Urology.
As far as the ranking of the most outstanding doctors by specialty is concerned, ranked in first place the Hospital Clínic has Dr. Àlvar Agustí in Pulmonology, Dr. Antonio Alcaraz in Urology, and Dr. Eduard Gratacós in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Finally, the monitor also assesses the best hospital centre management and administration. Here, the Hospital Clínic is the hospital with the third best Management Team, the second best Nursing Management Team and the third best Communication Team.
The survey was prepared by the Health Reputation Monitor, the only independent study that analyses the reputation of the entire healthcare system in Spain. It was based on 8,260 surveys of doctors, nurses, patient associations, healthcare journalists, hospital managers, nursing managers, members of the public administration in the field of health, hospital pharmacy managers, and pharmaceutical company executives. In addition, over 3,254 objective indicators of 34 clinical services were evaluated.
