The Health Reputation Monitor (MRS) ranking has just been presented and the Clínic Barcelona has been selected as the third best public hospital in Spain. This time, it is preceded by the Madrid-based centres, Hospital Universitario La Paz and the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón. However, the Clínic is the top Catalan hospital in the ranking, followed by the Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron, which is in fifth place overall.
With regard to the results of the ranking of the best clinical services, the Clínic stands out with four services in first place: Endocrinology and Nutrition, Haematology, Nephrology and Urology. It has six services ranked in second place: Digestive System, Clinical Analyses, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis. Finally, it has five services in third place: Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Nuclear Medicine, Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology.
In terms of Catalonia, the Clínic has 14 services ranked in first place. They are: Clinical Analyses, Dermatology, Digestive System, Endocrinology and Nutrition, Haematology, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, Rheumatology and Urology.
Finally, the monitor also assesses the best hospital centre management and administration. Here, the Clínic is the hospital with the second best Nursing Management Team and the third best Communication Team. This time, the ranking covers a total of 34 hospital services, including for the first time the specialty of Nuclear Medicine.
The survey was prepared by the Health Reputation Monitor, the only independent study that analyses the reputation of the entire healthcare system in Spain. It was based on 8,912 surveys of doctors, nurses, patient associations, healthcare journalists, hospital managers, nursing managers, members of the public administration in the field of health, hospital pharmacy managers, and pharmaceutical company executives. In addition, 4,788 objective indicators of quality and clinical management of the 34 clinical services included in the study were evaluated.
