Last October, the merger of the groups "Hereditary metabolic diseases" and "Muscle research and mitochondrial function" was approved. The move, effective since December, was prompted by the retirement of Antònia Ribes, leader of the former, and also because of the thematic synergies that both groups have been developing in recent years.
Antònia Ribes, who has been awarded the title of IDIBAPS emeritus researcher, will continue to be linked to the group resulting from the merger. The “Hereditary metabolic diseases and muscular diseases” group will be led by Glòria Garrabou, who replaced Josep M. Grau-Junyent as leader of the Muscle research and mitochondrial function group a few months ago.
