Avacopan as a substitute for corticosteroids in the treatment of ANCA-associated vasculitis

Vasculitis is a group of rare autoimmune diseases that, until now, have mainly been treated with corticosteroids and other immunosuppressants. Corticosteroids are effective, but they have many potentially serious side effects. Clínic-IDIBAPS participated in a study showing that the drug Avacopan could replace corticosteroid treatment, as it is equally effective and less toxic.
