  • Molecular therapies and serum biomarkers in liver cancer treatment

    Directed by Albert Morales

The research led by Dr. Morales focuses in identifying biomarkers, particularly in serum, that may predict treatment efficacy in patients with liver tumors. Based on that, and in our results using cellular and animal cancer models, our goal is to design therapies directed at the tumor microenvironment to improve the efficacy of liver cancer treatments.

  • Immune response in liver chronic disease and cancer development

    Directed by Montserrat Marí

Dr. Mari’s research aims to understand immune mechanisms activated in chronic liver diseases, to design therapies and prevent the development of liver cancer. Furthermore, by uncovering potential gender differences in prevalent chronic liver diseases and cancer progression, we aim to establish sex-specific biomedical targets for future clinical interventions.
