For feminising genitoplasty it is necessary to discontinue oestrogen treatment three weeks prior to surgery in order to reduce the risk of thrombosis.

In the case of vocal feminisation, the patient must undergo individualised speech therapy prior to the intervention in order to improve aspects such as voice modulation and intensity control.
