Research into Heart Transplantation at Hospital Clínic

Reading time: 1 min

Clinical research into heart transplantation focuses on the role of specific pulmonary vasodilators in improving transplant outcomes in patients with severe pulmonary hypertension.

Hospital Clínic is involved in 11 funded research projects and actively participates in the major national and international scientific societies in the field of heart failure and transplantation:

  • Catalan Society of Cardiology
  • Spanish Society of Cardiology, HF Section, Transplants and Other Therapeutic Alternatives.
  • European Society of Cardiology, Working Group on Heart Failure
  • International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT)

In these societies, Hospital Clínic staff members also actively collaborate as members of various "councils" or local conference committees.

Heart transplant patients at Hospital Clínic actively participate in outreach days, and in 2012 they created a transplant association, as a support group for families and patients both waiting for transplants and post-op.
