After the operation or inspection under anaesthesia
Reading time: 1 min
The destination of the patient after the procedure depends on the type of surgery or test performed:
- The Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), then to a normal hospital room, after he has recovered and stabilised for a few hours.
- The PACU, then, after a few hours, to the Phase II Recovery Unit, to prepare for discharge home.
- Intensive Care Unit, directly from the operating room or the PACU, depending on the type of procedure that has been done or depending on the patient's chronic diseases.
After the surgery or test under anaesthesia, the anaesthesiologist prescribes a treatment for the patient so he is comfortable with the least possible pain.
If the patient is expected to go home the same day as the operation or test under anaesthesia, it is very important to remember they should be accompanied.
