What is Anaesthesia?

Reading time: 1 min

Anaesthesia is the use of drugs to prevent pain or discomfort during surgery or other procedures. There are two main types of anaesthesia that can be administered by different methods. These are general and regional anaesthesia. In addition, the patient can also receive pharmacological sedation so that they feel comfortable, communicative (if necessary) or asleep while the test or procedure is done. The type of anaesthesia used depends on various factors, such as the type of surgery or procedure to be performed and the patient's health status.
