Research into Obstructive Sleep Apnoea at the Clínic

Reading time: 1 min

We carry out studies led by our centre and in collaboration with others, focused on the clinical aspects of disease.

Our own studies focus on the following areas:

  • Evaluation of the effect of obstructive sleep apnoea and its treatment in patients with different respiratory diseases (e.g., severe bronchial asthma and interstitial disease).
  • Study of the association between severe obstructive sleep apnoea and Alzheimer's disease blood markers and its reversibility with CPAP treatment.
  • Evaluation of the impact of information during the CPAP adaptation session on side effects and therapy compliance.

Studies in collaboration with the Spanish sleep group to evaluate residual post-CPAP sleepiness and the effectiveness of different therapeutic options in patients with postural obstructive sleep apnoea.

  • Studies of the prevalence of upper airway collapsibility in patients with chronic hypoventilation of different causes (neuromuscular diseases, rib cage disorders, obesity hypoventilation syndrome and COPD) and its impact on nocturnal ventilator parameter calibration.
  • Prevalence of obstructive sleep apnoea in patients with long COVID and its clinical impact.
